SWINOUJSCIE IN ILS VERSION

HOW TO CREATE A MODERNIZATION PLAN BASED ON A MASTERPLAN?

Due to its location and natural and scenic values, Świnoujście has great potential for nightlife. The basic assumption of the developed concept for the modernization of the city’s functional and representative lighting was to improve the quality of urban space, increase the identification of individual areas of Świnoujście, direct interest in selected objects and traffic in directions important for the city, as well as indicate the energy and environmental potential inherent in the modernization of city lighting.

The concept of modernization of urban lighting in Świnoujście was prepared taking into account the so-called DNA rules, including:

– rule 1 – essence,
– rule 2 – order of fixture types and mast colors,
– rule 3 – lighting order,
– rule 4 – arrangement with light,
– rule 5 – Eco-lighting

Aesthetics and consistency

It is planned to expose communication routes leading towards the sea and the promenade, distinguish urban spaces – the center and its surroundings by exposing the water panorama of the city and enabling the perception of important objects in the city at night. Five spatial zones have been identified that can be distinguished using lighting techniques, i.e. other types of street lighting. The desired values of light sources and the principle of selecting the style and color of the luminaires were determined. It was recommended to provide individual spaces in the city with lighting of a given color temperature. This action is aimed at strengthening the features of selected areas, enabling spatial orientation for users.

Energy potential of replacing street lighting in Świnoujście

Currently, 5,172 street lighting fixtures have been inventoried in the city, the majority of which, as many as 60% of them, are equipped with discharge lighting sources: sodium (55%), metal halide (4%) and just over 1% – fluorescent sources. 40% are lamps with LED lighting sources. In studies of selected areas of the city of Świnoujście, subject to verification of lighting parameters, overexposure of up to 200-300% in relation to the applicable requirements was found.

The conducted energy analysis showed a high potential for savings for city lighting when replacing discharge sources with LED sources. If additional lighting management systems are omitted from the implementation, the estimated energy savings are approx. 53%, with the use of intelligent lighting control it was possible to achieve savings of 63%, and with an additional correction introduced to existing luminaires with LED light sources – even at the level of 70%.

The answer to this data is rule 5. It deals with ecology and economic aspects. It assumes the use of an efficient city lighting control system that will reduce energy consumption. This will be possible thanks to the standardization of lighting infrastructure and the use of highly efficient lighting fixtures. It was assumed that color temperatures adjusted to users would be used. Clear quantitative guidelines have been developed regarding lighting requirements, which will also help reduce light smog. Another assumption will be the use of renewable energy sources as power sources for lighting installations, which will reduce the costs associated with the expansion of lighting installations.

All data and information have been cataloged in the ILS application used to manage lighting infrastructure. Thanks to this solution, all data can be made available to designated entities at any time. Information is assigned to geographic data and specific locations. Streets, facilities and squares have a pre-loaded package of requirements cards, and the tool allows you to update data and expand requirements.
